Griffin Gibson Photography

We had the pleasure of having Griffin Gibson (www.griffingibson.com) take Jensen's 1 year old pics (11 months, 1 week to be exact!). She did such a great job and I could not have asked for more. You just never know if a baby is going to cooperate or not and you start to fear wasting your money if they decide to have no part in the pictures. We were lucky enough to get the perfect day and Jensen in a good mood for most of the pictures. He tired at the end but we were so grateful for how long he lasted. These pictures just reflect the happy and lively baby that Jensen is. He is such a joy to have in our lives and keeps us on our toys. He is a real love bug and right now his favorite person is Daddy. Once Daddy walks through the door it is all over. If Daddy thinks of doing anything else but be with Boo Bear there are big tears and loud cries! It is so precious!! We are so in love with this precious little man and so grateful to God for giving him to us!!

Grandma and Grandpa Elwell come to town!

I just found out that my Mommy and Daddy have created this blog for me and write about me all the time. After reviewing my M & D's posts I decided that I needed to be a contributor (after all, its about me!). Just like Fox News, I will strive to be "fair and balanced" for all things related to me. No bottle of milk will go unfinished and no diaper will remain unsoiled. (you get the picture). I was really excited to see Grandma and Grandpa this past week, so I decided this is the perfect opportunity to write my first blogpost (thanks for coming G&G I miss you already, XOXO!). Lets review what some of our activities were together:

Tearing up the playroom floor (sorry Daddy!)

Drinking bottles of milk with Grandma...

Sleeping

Smiling...

Pushing my toy cart...

Eating Peas...

More Peas!! (Dad, why can't I eat chicken fingers like you?)

Reading lots of books with Grandma...

Riding the horsey with Grandpa

Wow, I had a fun time. Grandma and Grandpa, please come again soon! Wow, thinking of all those activities makes me sleepy. I need to go to bed now. Has anyone seen my taggy?

New Discoveries

In the life of a 10-month old boy, there seems to be an unlimited amount of discoveries: Picking up objects. Finding a private and quiet place to fill your diaper. Tugging at the doggy's hair. Shoving anything and everything in your mouth that you find within reach. (What I typically do during sample day at Costco) And the list goes on and on. From a parents perspective, it is wonderful to see Jensen make these new discoveries and find joy out of life's simple pleasures. Well today, we got a great video of him pushing his roller toy like a Caterpillar bulldozer. Brit had seen him do this before, but I had never seen him live in the act. It is funny to watch because he is still in the "I don't know how to use my legs" stage where it looks like his legs are made of Jell-O. When he walks, he reminds me of a cowboy that has just gotten off his horse after a long ride through the desert. It is hard to believe that a couple months ago he wasn't even able to stand up.

Another thing that we discovered is that Jensen loves music. Whenever we start singing, or playing music, he seems to stop and intently listen carefully to what he is hearing. Today, I was playing some good ole' fashion Chet Atkins guitar and he loved it. This is a video of him on my lap listening intently to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

Life through the eyes of a child is so different than what we as adults are accustomed to. Carefree, stress-free, 100% play time. I keep telling Brit that if someone put me into a crib, I would gladly sleep there for several hours. I would, however, cry when I got hungry. Seeing Jensen so excited about life reminds me to not take simple things for granted!

My First Ambulence Ride

sleepy from the Benadril and happy to be in Daddy's arms

Daddy trying to keep Jensen's monitor on his toe

Snuggling with my little love

We had quite the eventful day! I have enjoyed feeding Jensen Earth's Best food and have followed their feeding schedule the past several months so today I decided to try a scrambled egg for lunch for Jensen. It all started out fine but quickly turned scary. Jensen had an immediate allergic reaction to the eggs and was red, swollen with hives in a matter of minutes. He than started to choke. It was at this point I called his pediatrician and than called 911. The ambulance arrived quickly and gave him benadril and checked his vitals. We went to the hospital for 2 hours to be monitored since allergic reactions can take place up to 3 hours after the initial contact. We are so grateful that Jensen is ok and will now follow up with his pediatrician to see if he has an egg allergy (which we pray he does not) or if he was just too young to have them. Jensen was so brave in the ambulance and we were so proud of him!! Praising the Lord for watching over our precious baby!
